Additional Way of the Peaceful Warrior (CD, Movie Ed.): A Book That Changes Lives Information

Way of the Peaceful Warrior's enduring appeal has as much to do with the author's compelling personal story as with his message. Dan Millman's journey began during a period of spiritual crisis when he met a powerful old warrior named Socrates at a gas station at 3 a.m., and found himself tempted by an elusive woman named Joy. Thus began an odyssey that led him to the concept of the "peaceful warrior" - and on toward a final confrontation that would either deliver or destroy him. His discovery that the life and practice of the peaceful warrior is action helped him make sense of his life and find a sense of purpose, which he was able to impart to others. For the peaceful warrior, the messages are simple but resonant: "What you give, you receive. Doing is understanding. And you can do anything when you find the heart and courage for it."

What Customers Say About Way of the Peaceful Warrior (CD, Movie Ed.): A Book That Changes Lives:

There are times that I got lost with what the author was trying to convey but overall, I will rate this book as a good read if one wants to think through their own life's journey and how they have dealt with it. The book is a narrative of the life of Dan Millman and is done well. I liked the thought provoking element of this book. It seems to me that the author is trying to compel the reader to think through his or her own life and to come to certain spiritual conclusions.

How he learned to take care of his body. In reality, he was a mentor, a warrior, a teacher. Then, one night, Dan stopped at the local gas station for late night snacks. How he learned to quiet his mind. As fate would have it, that very night Dan met a man he came to call Socrates. Dan Millman was a top gymnast on his way to the Olympics.

Something was missing. Way of the Peaceful Warrior is the story of how Dan Millman's life was changed. Life seemed pretty good. To the outside world, Socrates looked like a guy working at the gas station. How he learned to trust and just let go. Still, something wasn't quite right.

They say that when the student is ready, a teacher will appear.

Although I believe the protagonist was selfish throughout the story, the idea of better living, feeling and thinking came through. The book is a good read and has good life lessons entwined in an entertaining story.

Its naive and fantasy like. I will pay more attention to negative reviews now. Its a childish stupid book.

Repeating some other 1-star reviews:- "This is real drivel, that might be considered precocious if written by a 12-year old"- "This book is a dip in a kiddy pool, let's try for the deep end."- "Way of the Peaceful Warrior changed me. Thank you, Dan Millman. It transformed me into a being who will never trust the title of a book again." (lol)With that I also support another reviewer's comment that Nathaniel Branden is much better, if you're looking for realistic, non-gas station super man stuff. This really tells me how bad a highly reviewed item can actually be.

Thats all I can say. I'm not sure why so many people are rating it high or what they liked in it. If the book was useful for any of you, more power to you.

Its ok for an 8 year old. I dont know but I cant be inspired about personal growth by some ghostly figure at a gas station that teleports itself from here to there in 0.5 seconds.

This is one of the classics of mysticism. Not because I actually thought it was cool, but because I thought I was SUPPOSED to think it was cool.I came across it again years later, and saw it for the spirit-killing garbage it is. Trash. I read through most of it once YEARS ago, before I knew myself, and thought it was cool, like all the other brainwashed drones who would give it good reviews. And still read through it all. Driveling, socialist, collectivist nonsense. The sort of thing that seeks to poison the minds of the impressionable and destroy capitalism, independence, competitive drive, and freedom from the slavery of altruism.
